As Ed enjoys his toast - powered by the energy he created pedaling on his stationary bike that is connected to the house batteries - he mocks Rachelle for wanting to drive to her exercise class. He thinks that she should workout in their home to save on fuel and energy.
Rachelle shows Ed how to really get a work out in their house by dragging him up to her home Pilates studio. Rachelle, the professional Pilates trainer, contorts Ed into difficult positions and barks orders at him like a drill sergeant until he is stuck in a pretzel-like pose. Thankfully for Ed, their daughter Hayden interrupts the session allowing him to escape.
While Rachelle is off at her exercise class, Ed pulls out his new environmental gadget - a rain barrel. When placed under a drain pipe, rain barrels are a great way to gather rain water to use later for watering plants. In their drought climate, Ed wants to conserve as much water as possible.
The first thing Rachelle notices after returning from her class is the bright orange barrel in her back yard and the huge piece of the drain pipe cut off during installation. She shouts that the barrel is ugly and demands it to be removed immediately. Ed gives in.for now.
Ed - always wanting to do his part for environmental charity - has put himself up on the auction block. The winner, Greg, arrives to claim his prize - to see the eco-friendly house and have lunch with Ed. Ed shows off his solar panels, stationary bike and electric car to his admirer. Rachelle can't believe someone would actually pay to hang out with Ed.
While Rachelle tries to fix the cut drain pipe and get her yard back to normal, another package has arrived for Ed - a second solar oven for cooking in the back yard.
Much to Rachelle's disbelief, a second person has bid and won a lunch with
Ed. This time a Norwegian woman named Inger meets Ed and joins him for a bike ride and lunch. After another vegan meal, Ed lets Inger ride his new iZip electric hybrid bicycle (www.izipusa.com). to help her get up those steep hills on the ride.
After all of Rachelle's work fixing the drain pipe, Ed sees the rain start to fall and has to pull it apart and brings back out his rain barrel. He thinks he's won this battle, but later in the night Rachelle sneaks out to haul the barrel back into the garage.
